Hi,

I believe that if the etheric body was damaged or destroyed the physical body would die almost instantly. This is because the physical body is supported by the etheric body.

I have heard that during death the physical, etheric, astral and mental bodies die and decay. The archetypal and higher spiritual bodies visit spiritual realms for a while then if they still have attachments to the earth level they will re-incarnate and continue their evolution on the material plane. If they are beyond such atatchments they are free from the cycle of birth and death and atain to the spiritual realms.

However the true part of you has never been born and can never die. This true part is beyond all bodies no matter how subtle. I recommend the teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi although I am not saying he agrees with all written in this post.

This subject is complex but I will try to clarify your question on the etheric body.

The Constitution or Make-up of Man as given in the teachings of Ageless Wisdom states that each of us has a personality. That personality is made up of four other bodies: physical, etheric, astral and mental. The etheric body fuels or energizes the personality with a life force via the physical so that we can move, from the astral or emotional body so that we can feel or emote; from the mental so that we can think.

The withdrawal or dissolution of the etheric body brings the death to the physical body, and the dissolution of astral and mental bodies follows.

We do go when the bell tolls. Period. But there are exceptions made for conscious individuals that have a major mission to complete and need more time. This may be the case or in Near-Death Experiences by less evolved persons, the etheric vehicle was probably untimely withdrawn and later re-instated.

The causal body is the body of the soul which is immortal and through whom the life force comes to us. It is not really a body as we understand it; it is the center of soul consciousness.

This is a highly simplified and personal version and understanding.

Ether is a realm which consists of a medium which some believe permeates all space and through which light and electromagnetic radiation is thought to move. The Etheric Body is the subtle level of the Physical Body. It is composed of various energies such as electromagnetic, chi, prana, ki, vitality, etc. It is also composed of subatomic particles. I don't believe the etheric body can die I believe it transitions

when our phyiscal body dies, our astral body and the etheric body do not die at the same time, it takes about 40 days for the etheric body to disolves. that's why the dead people would still walk around the astral world close to our physical world untill the etheric body is complelty disolved. Once it's disolved, the astral body of the dead goes into a sleep state we call kamaloka.
